SOLAR AMBASSADOR WORKSHOP

On 150 birth anniversary of our father of nation Mahatama Gandhi ji ,IIT Bombay and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy planned Gandhi Global Solar Yatra not only in INDIA but also in 60 foreign countries.The aim was to sensitize young minds towards Solar Energy and dire consequences of climatic change.
In the day long event on 2 october ,scheduled at Indhira Gandhi Stadium Complex,New Delhi two Guiness world records were attempted during the workshop as the aim of workshop was to provide sustainability lessons to largest number of participants at a single base and include largest number of solar lamps to get assembled and lit together. MNRE and IIT Bombay were able to set up these two Guiness book of world records.
According to Mr Chetan Singh Solanki, Proffesor at IIT Bombay and chief organizer said “We have not made any celebrity brand ambassador because we believe that all our students are our student solar ambassadors.”
Whole idea was to make solar lamp and to take pledge of nonviolence to environment.Students should take lesson from there so that they go home and switch off lights and fans run by nonrenewable energy resourses and try to makesolar gadgets to meet theirenergy requirments as an alternative source of energy.
It gives us immense pleasure and proud being a part of it .under the leadership of our principal ma,am Shalini Arora,all supervisory incharges Mrs vandana,Mrs Sonia,Mrs Kavita ,Mrs Anju Singh and Coordinator Mrs Anita Jain, 48 solar ambassadors and two teachers Mrs Ratna and Mrs Namita took part in this mega global event and become part of this historical moment.
