Diwali is a major festival celebrated grandly throughout India with pots, diyas, lanterns, flowers, Lakshmi Pooja and sweets.
However with time, large scale bursting of fire crackers is on rise during this festival. Crackers and fire works have become an integral part of this celebration. Harmful fumes are released into the atmosphere, loud noise from crackers and dry waste causes health issues for children, patients, and senior citizens. They also cause burns, deafness, nausea and mental impairment.
Before using fire works we should ask ourselves if we are actually going from darkness to light by using them or vice versa.
To spread mass awareness on this topic, 40 students of the Nursery wing of V.V.D.A.V.PUBLIC School presented a "street play" at Unity One Mall, Janakpuri.
It was a treat to the see and hear such young children present this' Street Play'with so much of zeal, enthusiasm and confidence.
The students of Pre school, Pre Primary and class 1 took up all the issues ,pertaining to the making of crackers by small children leading to child exploitation and the harmful effects of the same on them, as well as the harmful effects on the environment by burning these crackers.They took a pledge not to burst crackers and to celebrate a green and clean Diwali.They also mentioned about rejecting the single use of plastic.
This unique Street Play was prepared teachers under the Supervision of the Incharge Ms.Anju Singh and was graced by the Principal Ms Shalini Arora.
Onlookers and parents highly appreciated this fabulous performance and, the message to illuminate minds,enlighten hearts and strengthen the human bonds,homes and communities went deep into the minds of one and all.
At the end the Principal thanked the parents for their presence and congratulated the little cherubs for their wonderful performance.
