Veda Vyasa DAV Public School held a special online session for the students of classes VI -X
to create awareness on the nationwide Young Warrior Movement activated by CBSE in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, YuWaah, Generation Unlimited in India and Unicef.
The session was attended by nearly 1500 students and teachers who came in support of the nationwide young people’s movement.
The
#YoungWarrior Movement is activated in our school and is led by India’s young people towards action against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Youtube videos of the recorded sessions were shown to the enthusiastic students and the procedure for joining the online Young Warrior Platform was suggested. These young warriors will execute a series of easy and real-life tasks and will earn a certificate of participation by CBSE, Unicef and YuWaah for their actions. Some of these tasks are: ‘Fake news police’: training in myth-busting tools to detect myths/falsehood/misinformation; ‘Vaccine buddy’: to encourage registration for vaccination and ‘Tension buster’: to enable peer-to-peer mental health support by young people.
The session widened the horizon of the student, guided and encouraged them to think critically about the issues related to Covid, encouraging them to lead the social change amongst themselves, their families, their communities and nation as a whole.
The aim is to address together micro and macro issues that are being witnessed by young people in the country. This includes mental health challenges, misinformation being spread through social media and the negative impact it can have on young people’s minds, Covid-19 related challenges such as vaccine hesitancy.
The students not only participated with keen interest to hone their creative skills through art based activities but were also empowered and engaged to be ‘Young Warriors’ in the midst of the pandemic.
