Youth Parliament Session
The Social Science Department organised it's first virtual youth parliament session on 10th November, 2020. The event started with a welcome address by Ms. Anju Magon, faculty of political science. The Principal, Ms Shalini Arora, was the chief guest and Ms Anju Singh , Head of the social science department presided over the event . The principal , in her opening address emphasised upon the significance of such simulations to strengthen the roots of democracy, among students . She stressed upon the need for the students to have tolerance of the views of others and to be able to understand the working of our parliamentary institutions. Ms Anju Singh , the HOD, re-emphasised upon the relevance of such events and how it helps the students to relate to the real parliament sessions .
In this event around 65 students from classes IX and XI participated and tried to create the feel of real parliament. The agenda of the session was 'Is sedition necessary? Is the UAPA amendment 2019 required? ' The students from ruling and opposition parties debated well. The session ended with the passing of UAPA bill. Vote of thanks was given by Ms Anju Singh. Principal ma'am appreciated the efforts of the participants and wished them to be good parliamentarians in the future.
