Let us celebrate this year's Diwali in Mathematical light!
Let’s discover Mathematics in Diwali Celebrations.
The name ‘Diwali’ itself comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Deepavali’ (deep + avali) meaning “line of lighted lamps.”
The festival entails colorful rangolis - formed by beautiful geometric patterns, glowing lights coming from lamps and mouth-watering sweets packed in attractive boxes of different shapes, all drawn into the magic circle of community celebrations marked by warmth and goodwill. It seems as if we are celebrating Diwali in the Garden of Mathematics!
Under the able guidance of our esteemed Principal ma’am Ms Shalini Arora, respected Supervisory Incharge Ms Kavita Dewan and ever helpful HOD Ms Rashmi Sharma, the students celebrated Diwali in Mathematical Light.
The students of classes 3 to 11 were given an insight into celebrating Diwali in Mathematical light by performing various tasks starting from creating beautiful wall hangings using 2D and 3D shapes, Diwali posters using tangrams, Rangoli designs using symmetry, tessellations, Mandala art and Kolam art.
The highlight of the celebration was the making of lamps using various polyhedrons like tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron. The students were enthralled by creating these lamps using coloured sheets and parents and teachers were mesmerized seeing the lighted lamps created by them.

Students did the research work at three different levels - Mathematics of Rangoli (class 4 & 5), the ratios used in preparing sweets for festive season(class 6 & 7) and mission to minimise (class
, reducing the use of fire crackers in improving air quality and methods to find air quality (class 9 & 10)
So celebrating Diwali in Mathematical light brought new smiles, undiscovered avenues and different prospective and unbound happiness. This Diwali Celebration enabled students to converge the colours of Creativity and principles of mathematics, to understand the subconscious language of the subject.
