The Social Science Department of Veda Vyasa DAV Public School observed Heritage Day on 17 April 2026 through a Bagless Day, involving students of Classes III, IV and V in activities that highlighted India’s rich cultural heritage. The event was organised under the guidance of Principal Ms. Shalini Arora and Supervisory Head Ms. Anju Singh (HOD Social Science).
The celebration began with a special assembly. The programme commenced with the Gayatri Mantra, followed by a graceful classical dance performance. Students shared valuable presentations including the importance of heritage, facts about the monuments, and the Thought of the Day on preserving our heritage. A heritage song and a Monuments Talk further enriched the assembly. It was culminated by the enchanting Santor presentation of Vande Mataram.
Following the assembly, various heritage-based activities were conducted. Class III students performed block printing on cloth handkerchiefs, Class IV students prepared heritage calendars, and Class V students created heritage newspapers highlighting Indian culture and monuments. The completed work was displayed in the corridor, which was beautifully decorated as a “Heritage Haat.”
Further interactive activities included Class III speaking activity on “Dadi Maa ke Nuskhe”, Class IV “Travel with Me” map activity, and Class V quiz titled “Kaun Banega Heritage Saviour.”
The celebration provided students with an enriching opportunity to learn about India’s traditions, monuments, and cultural values, making the day both educational and memorable.
